Rural Chartered Surveyor Vacancy - northamptonshire based

Job Description

Davies & Co. is a well-established Rural Diversification and Planning consultancy practice providing specialist advice in respect of planning applications, (for Leisure and Commercial diversification), appeals and expert witness work across, covering a very diverse range of enterprises and locations.

Davies & Co. also undertake feasibility studies, grant applications, valuations for funding, and Rating Appeals relating to Commercial and Leisure businesses.

An opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Chartered Surveyor (graduate with experience would be considered) to assist in a wide range of professional work. The successful candidate can expect rapid career progression if they deliver success and business growth.

RURAL PRACTICE SURVEYOR

Job Description:

Davies & Co. is a well-established single office, independent firm of Chartered Surveyors, specialising in rural leisure and tourism, planning and development consultancy advice.

We are seeking to appoint a newly qualified MRICS rural practice surveyor to assist in all areas of work specific to planning and development, rating, rural diversification. In particular the person will be involved in the following work:

Site visits and client liaison

Project management in relation to engagement with other consultants; ecology, transportation, environmental, etc.

Preparation of Planning Application documentation forms and drawings

Submitting and monitoring closely Planning Applications and appeals.

Assisting in the preparation of planning appraisals and appeal documents including review of relevant planning policy

The person appointed must be committed, self-motivated, disciplined and enthusiastic, being able to work unpressured to tight deadlines. Also hold a full driving licence and possess excellent IT skills.

With responsibility for an existing work load for a diverse client based, with the ambition to grow and develop their own relationship and network, to obtain their own instructions, helping drive the ongoing success of the business.

Good negotiation and inter-personnel skills are essential.

APPRENTICE VACANCY

CHARTERED SURVEYOR (RURAL) DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP

Are you passionate about Rural Surveying? The Degree level Chartered Surveyor Apprenticeship will start in September 2024 to assist the Principal surveyor on many rural diversification projects. You will study BSc (Hons) Rural Enterprise And Land Management at Harper Adams University part time and also work towards your APC in order to become a chartered surveyor. The course will be 5 years and you will need to attend block teaching weeks at the university throughout the programme.

What we are looking for:

  • You will need to be IT literate and have knowledge of using Microsoft Word, Excel and the internet.
  • You will have an excellent, polite and professional telephone manner together with communication skills and be able to talk to people on all levels.
  • To be a great team player but also have the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • You will need to be presentable, reliable and flexible with working hours.

 What we ask of you:

  • To have attained 3 A-Levels at grade C or above, or an equivalent qualification
  • To have attained maths and English GCSE’s at 9-4 (Grade A-C)
  • Commit to undergoing apprenticeship training
  • Be keen to learn and develop you career
  • Be enthusiastic, presentable, reliable and flexible

 You will earn and gain experience in property management, investment negotiation, researching information to property searches and data inputting.

You will also be assisting the Chartered Surveyor in a wide range of mostly agricultural and commercial surveying work, which will involve visiting farm properties in Northamptonshire and surrounding counties.  You will be measuring buildings and land, helping to gather property information and to produce plans for buildings.  You will be expected to take on more responsibility once you are fully trained.

Time will be spent out of the office on-site, wellies required!
